Supa Loaf TVCs have always been unique from each other from the rest of the adverts in kenya. The idea is never to sell the goodness of the bread but the idea of how good the bread is. (We all know bread is unhealthy for us!) Supa loaf has been the market leader for a significant period of time and to maintain that position they do not feel the need to talk about the contents (vitamins & iron) of the bread itself.
This was a mere brand building/strengthening campaign and the humour created made the audience want to watch it over and over again. Can I talk about the execution - using a real lion? The advert got a lot of critical acclaim and high recall value simply because it had an unusual ending making it the 5th most popular advert of the year according to the popularity index of 2013!
